Meet Karlene Toohey

Karlene Toohey, VP of Brown Hearing Centers, is a second-generation leader who has been deeply involved in the family business since a young age. She began working for the company as a high school student and continued throughout her college years, developing a deep understanding of both the clinical and operational sides of hearing healthcare.

A licensed Hearing Instrument Specialist since 1983, Karlene brings more than four decades of hands-on experience serving patients across Texas. In recognition of her exceptional leadership, clinical excellence, and commitment to patient care, she was named 2025 Dispenser of the Year by the Texas Hearing Aid Association.

Karlene oversees the strategic direction, clinical standards, and day-to-day operations of Brown Hearing Centers. She is known for her patient-first philosophy, ethical leadership, and dedication to advancing the quality of hearing healthcare while preserving the values and legacy on which this third-generation family business was founded.

Karlene is a long-time member of the Texas Hearing Aid Association and remains actively engaged in mentoring professionals and elevating best practices within the industry.
